No Regrets! FRIES FOR LIFE (low cal & healthy)

HEY….

Just as requested, here is how I made the healthy substitute for the traditional white potatoes deep fried fries. ๐ŸŸ ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ Hope you enjoy these as much as I did, do tag me & let me know how you liked it. Any questions or doubts leave them in comments, will answer them for sure.

Typically 1 serving of McDonald’s French Fries (Medium) = 340 calories where more then 50% of it is just fats, not the good kind. On the other hand these yam fries are around 200 to 250 calories per serving + you get all the additional nutrients that our body needs on an everyday basis that are naturally present in yam. (more info on yam below๐Ÿ“Œ) This way you still enjoy fries & also do some good to your body by providing all the essential vitamins. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

It is so simple to make these, I can’t even call it a “recipe”, but definitely no compromise on the taste. This is probably the only guilt free fries ever, easy to make, tastes good, very little to no oil, low in calories, nothing but good benefits for your health and treat for your taste buds.๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

Ingredients & Prepping:

  • Preheat oven to 350ยฐC
  • Two cups yam cut into julienne
  • Sea Salt & Black pepper to taste
  • Coriander powder (coriander seed health benefits)
  • Coconut Oil to bake/Olive Oil for drizzle
  • Mustard or hummus for dipping or some homemade marinara sauce or guacamole will taste delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹

Instructions: In a bowl add all the cut yam with desired seasoning, although less salt should be good. Mix well, spread everything over a baking sheet evenly. If you are using coconut oil you can drizzle some now, if using olive oil drizzle some after the baking is complete. Bake this for 10 to 15mins at 350ยฐC check on them after & continue to bake for another 5mins if needed. They will be done pretty quickly, keep an eye on them.

If there are leftovers you can totally use them the next day as a lil snack, place them under the broiler for just 3 to 4mins and done that’s your healthy lil snack in no time. They will get crispy at this point. ๐Ÿ˜‹

I have been loving broccoli a lot lately & often look for different ways to eat it. Which led me to this amazing quick & delicious recipe “crunchy pops” is what I like to call them as, yea it is crispy. You too love munching on crispy crunchy food, don’t you?

Here is how you too can cut off on that junk & add some goodness on your place.

  • Ground paprika/chili powder -1/4 tbsp I like it spicy so I add a little bit of both
  • Italian seasoning -1/2 tsp
  • Salt – as per your taste
  • Parchment paper or nonstick baking tray

First thing first, do the basics. Cut the broccoli in to small sized florets, wash them under running water & you are good to go.

Steps:

  • Pre heat the over to 400C for 15mins (conventional oven) for micro wave oven 3mins will do
  • Combine all the ingredients mentioned
  • Alter the quality more or less as per your taste
  • Put the mixture on the tray & spread it around so they aren’t cluttered over each otherย โ€‹

  • Pop them in the oven for around 10-13 mins (extend or reduce bake time depending on your oven & the quantity)ย
  • Should look something like thing ๐Ÿ‘†after 10-13mins
  • Take it out, flip them all & bake on the other side for 8-10mins & you are done ๐Ÿ˜‡

Tips to ensure the crunch:

  • Once the broccoli is washed make sure to drain off excess water. Put the florets on a thick kitchen towel & allow them to dry completely
  • Make sure the oven is nice & hot before hand
